Infused Stone Pine "Pith-Wood" coffee bench.
Made from the Pith of an "Italian" Stone Pine or Giant Stone Pine which is similar to pine but much harder and much more durable.
A piece of art carefully crafted over the course of 7months. Crafted from the amber rich base of a big Italian Stone Pine stem comes a deeply cloured slab that proved to have such hardness of character it was almost impossible to work with. Cured over the course of two years, the slab was then repeatedly infused with poly-organic-carbamate resin over the course of two weeks and then given a 5 month time from of gentle heat cycles to carefully set on the steel. After 5 months of curing one more layer of poly-organic-carbamate was applied and the slab was sanded carefully over and over in the wood and then given one more poly treatment and finished by shining the wood's natural fibre using natural oil and a soft cotton cloth. A final coat of natural boiled linseed oil completes the process and dresses the table perfectly on black roller painted vintage steel legs. Filled with the all signs of different cycles of life the goal was not to reject this otherwise impossible-to-work piece of wood but to take something unusable and make it beautiful.
