1995 Nissan Maxima The Nissan Maxima was MotorWeek’s pick for “Best Import Sedan” in our 1995 Drivers’ Choice Awards. It was also one of our most trouble-free cars in our long-term test fleet. Those are just two reasons why the 1995 Nissan Maxima would make a good used car buy. This redesigned Maxima for ‘95 features far more rounded styling and flowing lines than previous Maximas. Ride and overall performance were also greatly improved. The SE model we tested came with firmer shocks and rear springs along with urethane front suspension bushings for crisper handling response. And despite a good deal of push and roll in corners, the Maxima stayed composed and was easy to control. Under the hood all models are powered by an aluminum 3.0-liter V-6 that delivered 190 horsepower and 205 pound-feet of torque. The engine is flawless and we have called it the best V-6 in the world.
