Including troubleshooting without supervision.Function.• To strip and repair cylinders• Preparation of parts for spray painting and paint parts• Hand welding by mechanically fed electrodes• Preliminary welding for positioning of jobs prior to welding, riveting or bolting up• Machining of different hydraulic components according to drawing specifications, following the job card as procedure for manufacturing• Assist in the stripping off and assessments of repairs for quotations purposes• Repetition drill sharpening by machine/hand• Drilling of holes• Tapping and re-tapping of holes• Deburring of all manufactured parts• Deburring by hand and/or by grinding and/or portable power tools• Sand blasting• Metal cleaning by degreasing• Operating hand portable and/or pedestal grinding machine where the operator is notrequired to grind to marks and/or gauges and/or sizes and/or templates• Rethreading and/or re-tapping and/or reclaiming of nuts and/or bolts• Check, prepare and mark own components• Assembling of jobs as per drawing / circuit diagram• Operate conventional milling machine and Lathe machine

Metal Fabrication Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be
the critical link between the client's design and our production floor,
ensuring we secure profitable projects through accurate and competitive bidding
across all our material streams.Key Responsibilities
Cost
Estimation: Prepare accurate, competitive, and timely estimates for
fabrication projects involving mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.Process
Analysis: Calculate costs for various manufacturing processes, including
laser cutting time, CNC bending complexity, welding labour hours, surface
finishing, and assembly.Material
Take-off: Conduct detailed and accurate material quantity take-offs from
technical drawings, including consideration for yield and waste across
sheet, plate, and structural profiles.Supplier
Management: Source, negotiate, and establish pricing with vendors for raw
materials and outsourced processes (e.g., powder coating, galvanizing).Technical
Interpretation: Thoroughly review and interpret blueprints, technical
specifications, and 3D models to identify potential fabrication challenges
and suggest value engineering solutions.Collaboration:
Work closely with Project Managers and the Workshop Foreman to ensure
estimates align with shop capabilities and efficient production methods.Bid
Management: Prepare comprehensive tender documentation and liaise with
clients regarding estimate clarifications and revisions.
Required Qualifications
Minimum
5 years of verifiable estimating experience within a metal fabrication
environment.Multi-Material
Expertise: Must have specific experience estimating projects involving all
three core materials: Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium.Drawing
Proficiency: Expert proficiency in reading and interpreting complex
engineering drawings, including geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing
(GD&T).CAD/3D
Software: Essential: Basic proficiency and experience utilizing CAD/3D
software (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent) for quick material
quantification and model review.Software
Skills: Demonstrated ability to use relevant software for take-offs and
costing (e.g. ERP/estimating platforms and MS Excel).Technical
Knowledge: Strong technical understanding of welding procedures (TIG,
MIG), laser cutting capabilities, and CNC press brake operations.
