The Mercedes Benz 190SL Roadster (W121 B 11) is undoubtably one of those designs whose perfect proportions continue to inspire even half a century after its production ended. Between 1955 and 1963 this model was considered THE Daimler Benz sports cars whose ownership included film stars and other high profile people.Optionally the 190SL was also available as a coupe, with removable hard top. As the little brother to the far more expensive Mercedes Benz 300SL it still had the elegance and styling of its bigger brother.Enjoyable driving and a sense of freedom: the additional designation “SL” = “Sport light” does credit to the intended driving experience. With its 1.9 litre 4 cylinder, engine the driving performance of the “touring sports car” is perfectly tuned for its purposes.Our car, a hardtop, is no. 1565 of 3352 produced in 1957, only 25 881 built in total, is a matching numbers with original service book, spare keys, and a comprehensive file to support its fine heritage and provenance !!This car has been extensively restored by its fastidious owner, who is well known in the classic car circles and work done has included :- Resprayed in original blue grey colour (Code DB166)- New imported interior to factory specs- New carpeting and rubber mats fitted as per original specs.- Motor completely overhauled using new parts where necessary.- Brakes refurbished.- 4 new white wall tyres fitted.- All chrome work redone.This example is in exceptional condition, and at a Mercedes Benz Club Concourse was judged and won the Ladies Choice award , and will be an asset to any car enthusiast as well as being a reliable driver for many years to come.The 190SL was offered as a soft top or removable hard top.
