Lots of cars come with “pre-darkened” windows from the factory. What’s the difference between this type of tinting and aftermarket tints? One comment we often get from clients is that their vehicle came from the factory with darkened windows, so they feel like they are already getting protection from the sun and the heat, without having any window films applied. This is really only partially true.Reps at Formula One were able to shed a little light on the subject. It seems that the darkening films used on vehicles at the factory are not true UV and heat rejecting films like we use at Protector Film. In fact, they tend to let in 4 times as much heat and UV light as our window films do. Here is what they had to say: The difference is simply a mathematical fact, and it is this: Factory tint transmits 4% of the ultraviolet light and after market films only transmit 1%. Therefore, the former transmits four times as much ultraviolet as the latter. Put on a timescale, one year of exposure with the first film would require four years of exposure to get the equivalent ultraviolet light damage. It is surprising to see that factories don’t install the highest quality window films with complete UV and heat rejection, especially when skin and eye health is such a great concern for families everywhere. For more information or for a no obligation quote:Call us: O31 2O7 4O63Whatsapp: 081 5353 909Email: sales@designersigns.co.zaWeb: www.protectorfilm.co.zaWe are also a full spectrum signage business. Despite providing some degree of protection against perpetrators peering into your car and stealing your valuables, a darkened tint on your vehicle's windows does nothing to stop them from smashing the windows and obtaining access to you and your valuables.Smash and grab tint, on the other hand, unlike other tints, is a thicker material that prevents assailants from getting inside your car even if they try to smash your vehicle's window. This is because smash and grab tint holds the shards of glass together, still creating a barrier between you and the perpetrator. Whilst regular window film thickness varies between 25 and 50 microns, smash and grab window film is much thicker at 100 microns and is laminated for extra strength, giving you peace of mind whilst in your vehicle. For more information or for a free, no obligation quotation:Call us: 031 2074063WhatsApp: 081 5353 909Email: sales@designersigns.co.zaWEB: www.protectorfilm.co.zaWe also cater for the full range of signage, from banners to lightboxes, vehicle branding to billboards and anything in between.WEB: www.designersigns.co.za
