Hand-carved wood sculpture, likely of Thai or Balinese origin; depicts scrolling acanthus or vine motifs radiating from a central lotus flower. Made of teak or mango wood, with gold leaf. The circular " mandala " pattern represents harmony and spiritual connection, often used in Boho, Zen. On a heavy base. It commands a room with eastern serenity
Based on a visual inspection of the image, here is an assessment of the object's material and potential value.
### 1. Is it plastic or wood?
**It is highly likely to be genuine wood (or a wood composite), not a plastic replica.**
Here are the visual clues that point to wood:
* **Texture and Grain:** If you look closely at the lighter, raised areas (especially on the central flower and the scrolling leaves), you can see a subtle wood grain texture. Plastic or cheap resin usually has a smoother, more uniform surface unless it is a very high-end cast.
* **The "Gilding" (Gold Rim):** The gold ring around the edge looks like gold leaf or gold paint applied over gesso (a primer used on wood). You can see cracking and flaking (especially near the top left) that is characteristic of aged paint on wood, rather than the molding seams or uniform shine you would see on plastic.
* **The Finish:** The dark recesses with the lighter highlights suggest an "antiqued" finish, where a dark stain or glaze was wiped over carved wood to highlight the depth. This is a traditional woodworking technique.
* **Imperfections:** The edges of the carving are slightly irregular. Mass-produced plastic items usually have very sharp, perfect edges from the mold. This has the slight softness and irregularity of hand-carving or machine-carved wood that has been sanded.
**Verdict:** This appears to be a **wooden decorative medallion** or wall plaque. It is possible it is a "composite" wood (like MDF) that has been carved and painted, which is common for this type of decor, but it is not a cheap plastic replica.
### 2. What is it?
This object is likely a **decorative wall medallion** or a repurposed **ceiling rose**.
* **Ceiling Rose:** Historically, these circular carvings were placed on ceilings around light fixtures (chandeliers).
* **Style:** The design features acanthus leaves and a central rosette, which is a classic motif found in Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical architecture.
* **Origin:** Items like this were very popular as home decor in the mid-to-late 20th century (1950s1980s). It has the look of imported decorative art (possibly from India, Indonesia, or Italy) intended for traditional home interiors. The stand it is sitting on looks like a modern, generic display stand, suggesting someone mounted a loose carving for display.
### 3. What is it worth?
If this is an authentic wooden carving, its value is generally in the range of **decorative art** rather than high-end antique fine art.
* **Estimated Value:** **$40 $120 USD.**
* **Why this range?**
* **Lower end ($30-$50):** If it is a mid-century mass-produced decorative item (common in thrift stores), it is valued mostly for its looks.
* **Higher end ($80-$150):** If it is a high-quality hand-carved piece, older (early 20th century), or if the carving is very deep and intricate, it could fetch more from a collector of architectural salvage.
**Summary:** It is a lovely piece of decor, likely real wood with a gold-leaf finish. While it is probably not a rare museum antique worth thousands, it is a solid, attractive object that would likely sell in an antique mall or on Etsy for roughly **$50 to $80**.

Early salt glazed GRM Reinhold Merkelbach Grenzhausen beer stein. Originally designed in 1906 by professor Richard Riemerschmid, of munich, who was a major figure in the german art nouveau movement. Large, at 0.7 litres, with a beautifully crafted pewter lid.
Adorned with the words "gaudeamus igitur" around the top, which translates as "so let us rejoice" -- a popular student beer drinking song. This looks to be an early version using the original molds. In good condition overall. Open to reasonable offers. Postage via Postnet can be arranged and enquires via WhatsApp are preferred and will usually be responded to quicker.

An antique white lithophane image cup in honor of King Edward Vll Coronation in 1902. The front of the cup exterior features an undamaged, hand coloured transfer which depicts a crown, King Edward's monogram and 1902 date.
The gilding on the upper edge of the cup is slightly worn off. The cup's interior features a unique molded lithophane portrait of King Edward Vll on the bottom of the inside. This resembles a black and white photograph when it is held to the light
Accompanying this cup is a similar cup which was produced in honor of King Edward's wife, Alexandra. Unfortunately the base of this cup is cracked but the lithophane image is clear. The exterior of the cup is in good condition, and when displayed together the two cups present a special token of historical memorabilia
