Job Description – Senior Security Systems TechnicianThe Senior Security Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, servicing, configuration, maintenance, and repair of security systems including CCTV, alarm systems, access control, electric fencing, gate automation, intercoms, and networking infrastructure. The role requires strong fault-finding abilities, system diagnostics expertise, site assessment capabilities, and the ability to provide technical input for quotations and project planning.Key responsibilities include installation and configuration of analog and IP CCTV systems, including DVRs, NVRs, hybrid systems, video management software, and advanced camera technologies such as PTZ, ANPR/LPR, thermal, fisheye, dome, and bullet cameras. The technician must understand network configurations including PoE switches, VLANs, remote access, storage solutions, and bandwidth management.The role also includes installation and programming of wired and wireless alarm systems including DSC, Paradox, IDS, and Texecom systems. Duties involve configuring alarm panels, PIRs, magnetic contacts, panic buttons, GSM/IP communicators, zones, partitions, outputs, and integrations with monitoring stations.The technician must have experience with standalone and networked access control systems including biometric readers, RFID systems, keypads, maglocks, electric strikes, and request-to-exit devices. Specific experience is required with Impro, ZKTeco, and Control iD systems, including hardware installation, wiring, software configuration, user enrolment, time and attendance functionality, permissions, reporting, anti-passback, and multi-site integrations.Additional duties include installation and servicing of audio and video intercom systems, gate automation systems such as Centurion, ET, and Hansa, as well as electric fencing systems including energizers, earthing, zoning, and compliance with SANS regulations.The technician must also configure and troubleshoot networking equipment including routers, switches, wireless access points, and remote connectivity solutions. Integration between CCTV, alarms, access control, and intercom platforms is required using systems such as HikCentral, Milestone, Gallagher, Impro IXP/EC, and Paxton.General responsibilities include preventative and corrective maintenance, fault-finding, site assessments, preparation of technical recommendations for quotations, completion of job cards and reports, supervision of junior technicians, and compliance with PSIRA, OHSA, and company policies.Minimum requirements include 5–7 years’ experience in the electronic security industry, strong knowledge of CCTV, alarms, networking, access control, gate automation, and electric fencing systems, a valid driver’s license, and preferably PSIRA registration and relevant technical certifications. Strong communication, leadership, customer service, and reporting skills are essential.

Such incidents must be reported on the correct Whats App groups and if needed proper risk assessments/fault analysis must be done and proper reports submitted to the security committee for discussion and decision-making purposes.
