Role Purpose
The Agile Portfolio Manager will provide oversight to portfolio level value-driven governance for agile product deliveries across Momentum Insure. The position will play a crucial role in ensuring that all initiatives are aligned to the business strategy and meet short/long term business needs and value expectations.
This person will also drive portfolio-level information delivery and provide value risk oversight by partnering with product owners, product managers and project managers to define, analyze, and report on portfolio-level initiatives and business risks, metrics, and information related to value delivery
Responsibilities and work outputs
Portfolio management
• Ensure that the organization’s business and financial objectives and strategic goals are clearly articulated and accessible.
• Investigate the feasibility of initiatives in support of business strategy and objectives
• Facilitate, with the business executive team, initiative selection/approval and strategic prioritization to ensure maximum value to the business and prioritization of risk and compliance initiative.
• Maintain the overall business portfolio, with timeous inclusion of initiatives being implemented in the product/agile delivery teams.
• Ensure cross-product dependencies are managed
• Establish and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of initiatives in line with goals and key performance indicators
• Ensuring the portfolio is meeting the stated goals and objectives and delivering on the expected return on investment
• When needed, highlight initiatives that could be terminated/stopped that are no longer contributing to the overall business strategy and objectives
• Creating reporting documentation to communicate progress and other portfolio metrics.
• Resource Management: Collaborate with line managers to ensure the team is properly staffed with the right capacity and competencies to deliver on initiatives and when needed facilitate the (re-)allocating of resources throughout the life cycle of the portfolio.
• Oversee the achievement and risk “blockers” related to product deliveries
• Partner with product teams to review lean business cases, linking business benefits to investments for funding and allocation requests
• Ensure agile principles and practices are applied consistently
• Oversee the creation and review of key metrics, outcomes, and reporting related to key milestones and objectives
• Assess and report the health of product deliveries with objectivity, accuracy, and transparency
• Ensure that appropriate stakeholders are engaged in risk identification and mitigation

The team of actuarial, quants and financial services risk specialist forms an integral part of EY’s EMEIA FS Risk offering, where we collaborate extensively with our colleagues across the region to take tailored solutions and services to our clients. EY Africa’s Actuarial team currently consists of over 80 individuals spread across the same four locations covering specialist areas such as Actuarial valuations (IFRS, EV, SAM / S2) Head of Actuarial & Statutory Actuary roles Modelling and validation IFRS 17 consulting and implementation Pricing and product development Predictive analytics Finance and Actuarial transformation Cost optimisation Risk and Capital management ESG and Investment consulting Transactions / Due Diligence consulting Audit and other assurance (Life, Short-term and Pensions) It’s a rapidly growing area supported by an increased focus on risk across the industry. We are looking to expand the Actuarial team by investing in a Senior Manager in either of EY’s Johannesburg or Cape Town offices. We are looking for highly motivated and pro-active individuals that are looking to rapidly grow their careers in an environment that is focused on growing its people and serving its clients across Africa. This will require working extensively with our colleagues from across the world in various disciplines (e.g. IT, Data, Finance, Corporate Finance, etc.) which will expose the candidate to a wide range of insights and experiences which will benefit their development and careers significantly. Both roles require leadership across clients, people and solutions, with a platform to help shape and develop the future. Your key responsibilities We’ll look to you to take a holistic approach to the role, developing your skills and knowledge in multiple areas. You’re likely to spend most of your day working on your projects, with occasional direct meetings with clients to monitor and discuss progress. To qualify for the role, you must have: Preferably 3-5 years post qualification experience IFRS17 expertise Actuarial modelling (Life and/or Short-term Insurance) Financial reporting (IFRS, EV or SAM / S2) Experience in Corporate and Board reporting Ability to effectively work with various stakeholders ranging from middle management to the Board, including non-actuarial stakeholders Ideally, you’ll also have The executive presence and confidence to work with senior clients
