THE POSITION Reporting to the Business Development Manager-The incumbent must have previous experience driving code 10 trucks-8 ton and have a valid PrDP. While interacting professionally with clients the incumbent will be responsible for safely transporting Finished Products from factory to customers ensuring damaged free on time in full deliveries.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Ensure your vehicle check list is completed and submitted to the supervisor at the beginning of every shift. Report any damages immediately.Your delivery notebook together with the relevant checklists must be completed in full for every load and the stock recorded correctly.Ensure the relevant quality checks are performed as per procedure.Make sure your load is secured, and that it is properly loaded by the third party to prevent damage to your truck.Ensure you action all request promptly and that you report any challenges immediately.Assist with the scanning and invoicing of stock when required.Maintain constant communication with your supervisor/manager regarding traffic issues, customer related delays etc.Oversee the forklift drivers and ensure the stock is checked and correct. Communicate with the operators to prepare the loads in advance to speed up the loading process, this will assist you in achieving your targets.Supervise the loading and offloading of stock onto your vehicle to ensure the forklift driver do not damage your truck and curtains.Drivers are supplied with a company cell phone that stays in the truck and are expected to always be reachable.Conduct regular inspections on your Truck, check your lights, tyres, for any objects embedded in them, check the pressure and tyre tread, fluid levels, Water, oil, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid before every trip.Ensure all your curtain straps are closed and tightened before departing, the curtains might get damaged by the wind while driving.When receiving stock ensure the relevant visual quality checks are performed as per procedure.Ensure you receive documents or Invoice for each load, and that you check and ensure the stock corresponds with the documentation before departing. No stock will be allowed to leave the premises without a invoice.Ensure you adhere to all safety regulations as per the induction training that you received.Ensure you adhere to the driver operating procedures.Ensure you adhere to the Road Traffic Act.Ensure your truck is washed regularly and kept clean.Report any damages, accidents or incidents immediately.Perform any other duties as require and assigned to you. Our client is searching for a Fleet Controller to join their team in Akasia.The successful candidate will be responsible for:Responsible for capturing and updating planned loads on Fleet Management Systems (Soloplan) and to inform the Planner to allocate loads to your trucks.Ensure drivers received their loading instructions; ensure they are aware of what is expected of them as well as informing them of any changes.Continuously monitor truck and driver movements.Ensures that planned and scheduled loads are picked up and delivered on time as well as update stakeholders on progress and delays.Ensure that all POD and related documents are clearly and correctly scanned and submitted by driver via the in-cab tablet and that hard copies are handed in when in the yard.Monitor the diesel consumption and driver efficiency and inform Training Centre of poor diesel and driver performance.Responsible for managing de-briefing sessions with truck drivers and to assist driver’s with all queries they may have.Update the daily attendance register of drivers as well as manage all planned and unplanned time-off.Continuously liaise with client/s on progress, changes and to resolve any issues.Inform Call Centre of any breakdowns or related issues and follow-up on ETA to resolve.Qualification and experience:Minimum grade 122-4 years related experience as a Fleet Controller in the road freight/logistics industryBasic knowledge of Excel, Word and general computer literacy is paramount.Fluent in English and Afrikaans.NOTE:This is not an 8:00 to 17:00 job.
