Appropriate Salt LevelSalt helps to draw calcium and magnesium ions from the water. The correct salt level should be between two and three inches below the top of the tank. The most common type of water softener is made up of two components: a tall and narrow water softener tank and a shorter and wider brine tank.
Checking Salt Levels and Salt BridgesMaintaining the optimal salt level in your brine tank is crucial for ensuring your water softener operates effectively. To check the salt levels, simply lift the lid of the brine tank and observe. If the salt level is less than half full or appears dry, it’s time for a refill.
