Hyundai Accent 1.6 Fluid (5-dr)

Medium hatchback under R260k

The Hyundai brand has certainly grown in leaps and bounds over the last few years and are these days seen as direct competitors to most of the main stream Japanese brands. Hyundai also offers incredible piece of mind to their customers with their fantastic 5 year/150 000km warranties.

The Hyundai's engine produces a very decent 91 Kilowatts of maximum power and a 156Nm of torque. Tipping the scales at only 1 035kg means the Fluid delivers very good performance, but like any normally aspirated engine you still need to use higher engine revolutions to get the best out of it.

Furthermore, the engine seems quite smooth even at higher engine speeds, although it does become a bit audible inside the cabin when pushing on. The six-speed manual transmission shifts nicely, with a light and slick action. A quick look under the engine reveals that all plumbing and wiring seemed in a perfect condition. An ABS braking system with EBD ensure safe stopping power in emergency situations.

The interior is well cared for and all the materials seem to be aging quite well. The plastics has a bit of a hard look and feel, but proves quite soft on the eye. The plastics through-out the cabin also seems virtually scratch free, which proves they are durable in the long run.

The Hyundai offers a decent list of luxury features like: air-conditioning (no climate control), power steering, electric windows, an integrated radio/CD-player, blue tooth phone connectivity, a multi-function steering wheel, an on-board computer and rear park distance control.
