    Mazda Models Review

Japanese investors founded Mazda Motor Corporation in 1920, and as of 2011, it is the fifteenth biggest automaker by production worldwide. The company has their headquarters in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima, Japan.

The first vehicle produced by the Mazda Motor Corporation was the Mazda Mazdago. The company manufactured the Mazdago in 1931. The vehicle looked like a motorcycle with an open wagon or truck bed. Drivers steered it with handlebars, and it was the first autorickshaw manufactured. Mazda's first real car that they designed and produced was the Mazda R360. It hit the markets in 1960 and was one of the first lightweight vehicles manufactured for drivers. Mazda began concentrating more on their engine development in 1962 and designed a heavier V6 and V8 engine line. The used these engines for the Rx production line of Mazda vehicles and helped to propel the company into being one of the more well known automobile manufacturers.

Mazda manufactures their vehicles in many different countries, as such, they appear under various names. Some of the popular lines of Mazda production vehicles include the Carol, Scrum, AZ-Wagon, Verisa, Premacy, RX-8, Bongo, Titan, MX-5 Roadster, Familia Van and the CX-9. These vehicles range in size from a compact car to a commercial pickup truck that is only available in South Africa. Other vehicles that Mazda manufactures for other auto lines include the Autozam, Efini, Eunos and Xedos. These names all have their own line of vehicles sold under different marquee names of the Mazda brand. Many older models and discontinued Mazda vehicles carry the Ford name.

Mazda continually creates new designs for future lines of cars. These designs are concept cars, which Mazda engineers showcase at the major auto shows across the globe. Some of the concept names are Kazamai, Hakaza, Ryuga, Nagare, Furai, Kabura, Kiyora and the Taiki.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Used Mazda Sedan

Things to Consider Before Buying a Used Mazda Sedan

Mazda currently has two sedans on the market, the Mazda3 and the Mazda6. The former is a compact vehicle that debuted in 2003 and as 2013, is in its third generation, while the latter is a large family-size car that debuted in 2002 and is, as of 2012, also in its third generation. Despite plenty of competition, Mazda sedans continue to win awards for everything from design to fuel efficiency and earn praises from reviewers around the world. If you are considering buying a Mazda sedan, you may want to consider some different features.

    Mazda6 Overview

Since its debut in 2003, the Mazda6 has won numerous awards. It came in second for the 2003 European Car of the Year award that year, and in 2005, it was named the Canadian Car of the Year's 'Best New Family Car.' Wheels magazine named it the winner of it Active Safety Programme the same year. MotorWeek chose it as the 'Best Family Car' in 2009 for its suspension, steering and design. Of course, not everything is perfect. The car did not go over too well with some people, particularly in the United States, because it is smaller than some of its midsize sedan competitors and had a hatchback instead of a boot in the rear. The car entered its second generation in 2007, and in 2010 What Car? magazine named it the 2010 'Family Car of the Year.' The third generation hit markets in 2012, which led to it being a 2013 'World Design Of The Year' finalist.

    Mazda3 Overview

The Mazda3 debuted in 2003 and entered its second generation in 2009. The new version featured SkyActiv technology, a six-speed transmission, a rigid body and a direct injection engine. The third generation hit the market during the summer of 2013, and by 2014, it had already turned some heads on two continents. US News and World Report ranked it the best 'Affordable Small Car.' It was also one of the finalists for the European Car of the Year in 2014.

    Mazda Sedan Engines

The 2015 version of the Mazda6 comes with only one engine choice for all three models (Sport, Touring and Grand Touring): a SKYACTIV-G 2,5-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with VVT that produces up to 184 horsepower. It comes with front-wheel drive and two transmission choices, which are the SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed Sport automatic transmission with manual shift mode or the SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed manual option. The 2014 Mazda3 sedan comes with a few more options. It offers six models: the iSV, iSport, iTouring, iGrand Touring, sTouring and sGrand Touring. The iSV, iSport, iTouring and iGrand Touring all come equipped with a SKYACTIV-G 2,0-litre DOHC 4-cylinder with VVT engine capable of 155 horsepower. You can choose between a SKYACTIV-MT 6-speed overdrive manual transmission or a SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed electronically controlled automatic with manual-shift mode transmission. The sTouring and sGrand Touring come with a SKYACTIV-G 2,5-litre DOHC 4-cylinder with VVT and only one transmission option: the SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed electronically controlled automatic with manual-shift mode and sport function. Of course, older models of both sedans will feature a variety of engines and transmissions.

    Mazda Sedan Size

While the Mazda6 is considered a mid-size family car, it is still slightly smaller than others in its class. It has a wheelbase that is 2 830 millimetres, and it stands at 1 450 millimetres tall, 1 840 millimetres wide and 4 850 millimetres long. The smaller Mazda3 sedan has a 2,700-millimetre wheelbase, as well as a curb weight of 1 300 to 1 315 kilogrammes. It stands 1 455 millimetres high, 1 795 millimetres wide and 4 580 millimetres long. Depending on which of the six Mazda3 sedan models you choose, some of the dimensions may be slightly different.

Mazda Sedan Safety and Comfort Features

There are numerous safety and security features that almost all of the latest models of both the Mazda6 and Mazda3 come equipped with. Some of the security features include an engine immobiliser anti-theft system, a keyless remote with panic button, the Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System, rear door child safety locks and LATCH child-safety-seat anchors and upper tethers. The Grand Touring models also come standard with their own alarm system. As for standard safety features, some of them include advanced front airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact air curtains, side-impact door beams, SKYACTIV-Body, three-point seat belts for all five seats and Hill Launch Assist. Some of the higher-end models come with a Rear Cross Traffic Alert System, Blind Spot Monitoring and Smart City Brake Support.

The Mazda3 and Mazda6 may not be the most talked about cars, but they are definitely worth some of your time if you are in the market for a used sedan. From fuel efficiency to sleek designs, both cars have caught the attention of many important people in the auto industry and have the awards and recognition to prove it. They may not offer as many features as some of the more expensive sedans, but they make up for it by providing drivers with quality instead of quantity. 5 Things to Consider Before Buying a Used Mazda SUV

5 Things to Consider Before Buying a Used Mazda SUV

In 2006, Mazda jumped into the SUV business with its full-size crossover SUV, the Mazda CX-9. Built on the same platform as the Ford Edge, the CX-9 has undergone four major changes throughout the years, in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2013. However, in 2013 the automaker also began selling the CX-5, a compact crossover SUV, which features groundbreaking technology. Before you decide if a Mazda SUV is right for you, it is best to get to know the CX-9 and CX-5 a little better.

    Mazda SUV Size

The full-size, five door CX-9 is one of the few SUVs in its class on the market that offers three rows of seating, as well as plenty of interior leg and headroom without being an overly bulky vehicle. Its wheelbase is 2 875 millimetres long, while the SUV itself is 5 075 millimetres long and 1 935 millimetres wide. Models purchased before 2009 stood 1 730 millimetres in height, while those purchased in 2010 and beyond stand 1 727 millimetres tall. The vehicles curb weight is approximately 2 054 kilogrammes. The smaller, compact CX-5 has a 2,700 millimetre wheelbase and a 1 455 to 1 555-kilogramme curb weight. It stands 1 670 millimetres tall, 1 840 millimetres side and 4 540 millimetres long.

    Mazda SUV Performance

You can choose from four different models for the CX-9: the Sport Four-Wheel Drive, the Sport All-Wheel Drive, the Touring and the Grand Touring. The Sport Four-Wheel Drive comes with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with VVT engine that can produce up to 155 horsepower. It comes with either manual or automatic transmissions. The other three models come with a SKYACTIV-G 2,5-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with VVT engine that gets up to 184 horsepower. Those modes come only with an automatic transmission. The CX-5 comes with the exact same engine options, along with options for both six-speed automatic and manual transmissions.

    Mazda SUV Safety Features

When it comes to safety and security, both CX-5 and CX-9 come standard with several important features, no matter which model or package you choose. Some of these include advanced front airbags with passenger weight and seat position sensors, side impact air curtains, three-point seat belts for all seven seats in the vehicle, Dynamic Stability Control, side-impact door beams, a collapsible steering column, a keyless remote panic button, LATCH child safety seat anchors and upper tether anchors and child safety rear door locks. Some models include extra options for safety, such as E911 automatic emergency notification, Smart City Brake Support and Blind Spot Monitoring.

    Other Mazda SUV Features

Each model of both the CX-9 and CX-5 also comes with a number of other standard interior features that make driving comfortable. These include air conditioning with a pollen filter, power windows with one-touch up or down filter for drivers, power door locks with two-stage unlocking, a remote keyless illuminated entry system with 'answer back' feature, Push Button Start, a tilt and telescopic steering column and a rear window defogger with timer.

    Mazda SUV Style and Design

The Mazda CX-9 comes in six colours: Zeal Red, Blue Reflex, Crystal White Pearl, Liquid Silver, Meteor Grey and Jet Black. It comes with either a black or sand-coloured interior. The Mazda CX-5 comes only with a black interior, but it has two additional paint options, Deep Crystal Blue and Soul Red. Many reviews have referred to the CX-9 as the more stylish, sportier option for parents who need a minivan because of its sleek exterior and its ability carry seven passengers, as well as plenty of cargo. Some of the standard exterior features that come with the newer models include clear lens halogen headlights, daytime running lights, variable-intermittent windshield wipers, a roof-mounted shark fin antenna, a rear roof spoiler and dual body-coloured power side mirrors with integrated turn signal lamps. Various packages offer additional optional features like Adaptive Front-Lighting System and rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield wipers.

In 2008, just two years after it hit markets, the CX-9 won the Motor Trend SUV of the Year award, as well as the North American Truck of the Year award at the Detroit Auto Show. The CX-5 earned a spot as one of the five 2013 Green Cars of the Year at the Los Angeles Auto Show because of its fuel efficiency. Since becoming available, both vehicles have seen a steady increase in sales. The Mazda SUV may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think about buying a used car, but it is well worth taking a look. It is certainly not the most fancy SUV in the world, but its relative price, spacey interior and recognition for being Earth-friendly more than make up for what it lacks in luxury.
