    Fiat Models Review

Founded as Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino in Turin, Italy in 1899; Fiat produces some of the most stylish cars and trucks. Fiat designs their cars for the compact and subcompact market and have focused on making these vehicles comfortable and exciting. Their current line of vehicles includes passenger cars and group of MPVs known as Fiat Professional. Their passenger vehicles include a wide selection of models that include 2-door coupes, 3-door hatchbacks and sedans.

The flagship model in their lineup is the Fiat 500. This basic model has four varieties that include the basic 500, the 500C, the 500L, the 500L Trekking and the 500L MPW. All of these vehicles share a similar chassis design but have different body styles and trim packages. The basic Fiat 500 is available as a 3-door hatchback that seats four passengers. The 500 is available in four trim packages that include Naked, Pop, Lounge and Sport. Each of these various trim packages provides additional upgrades to the base vehicle. The Fiat 500C is the same base model as the 500 but includes a convertible top. The 500L is a 5-door sedan that has four trim packages that include Pop, Easy, Trekking and Lounge. Each of these packages helps to transform the car into a slightly different vehicle from fun to sporty.

The Fiat 500L MPW is a stretched version of the 500L that provides slightly more interior space and a longer wheelbase. The Fiat Panda, Panda 4X4 and Panda Cross are all based on the same 5-door hatchback frame with varying feature sets included. The Fiat Punto is a more traditional sub-compact vehicle that is a 3-door hatchback with a choice of engine sizes and styles. Finally, the Fiat Qubo rounds out their offerings with Fiat's take on the crossover. This vehicle is the largest in their lineup and sports sliding side doors and a rear liftgate.

Top Six Things to Consider Before Buying a Used Fiat Sedan

Top Six Things to Consider Before Buying a Used Fiat Sedan

Fiat makes mostly compact, efficient vehicles, but the manufacturer does have one car classified as a sedan. The 500L has design elements of the original Fiat 500, but it has five doors and a larger seating area than its miniature counterpart. It is perfect for a driver who wants fuel efficiency with a little more seating space for passengers and room for cargo.

    Fiat Sedan Engine

The 500L originally came with either a petrol or diesel engine. These models have either 4-cylinder engines or 5-speed or 6-speed gearboxes. A new version released in 2013 offers a MultiAir turbo diesel engine.

    Fiat Sedan Seating Capacity

The original 500L features seating for up to five passengers. A seven passenger version, known as the "Living" or "MPW" edition, hit the market in 2013.

    Fiat Sedan Fuel Economy

One of the biggest attractions of the 500L is its excellent fuel efficiency. The standard 500L averages 5 litres to 7 litres per 100 kilometres, depending on the type of driving, city or highway.

    Fiat Sedan Safety Features

The Fiat sedan ranks quite high on safety tests, with an average of five stars overall. It has multiple airbags, including dual front, dual side, overhead, knee and occupant sensing. It also has an engine immobiliser, security system and electronic stability. Standard features, including anti-lock brakes and traction control, are also available.

    Fiat Sedan Trim Levels

The Fiat sedan is available in several different trim levels, and each one offers appealing options for different drivers. Because the Fiat 500L is relatively new to the market, some trim levels are harder to find than others on the used market. A little research helps buyers find the perfect Fiat models for their families.

    Pop Trim Level

The Pop trim level includes a 4-cylinder engine with MultiAir turbocharge. It has hill start assist and a 6-speed manual transmission. An automatic transmission is available on upgraded versions. It averages around 7 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway and 9 litres per 100 kilometres in the city. An MP3 decoder, CD player, AM/FM radio and steering wheel controls are all standard features on this trim. Power windows, air conditioning and beverage holders for both front and rear seats are also standard. Moonroof and navigation systems are not available for this base level trim. It also only includes six speakers.

    Easy Trim Level

The Easy trim level comes with a 6-speed dual clutch transmission and 16-inch alloy wheels. Buyers can find three different roof colours in this trim. The entertainment system in the Easy trim level is the same as the Pop trim, but a moonroof and navigation system are possible options. An auto-dimming rearview mirror and automatic temperature control are other extras. This trim may include an additional speaker as an upgrade, and an optional reverse sensing system provides additional safety.

    Trekking Trim Level

The Trekking trim level has the same engine and features as the Easy trim, with the additional option of six different colour choices for the exterior. It also features satin silver mouldings and unique fascias. A moonroof, navigation system, auto-dimming rearview mirror and automatic temperature controls are potential upgrades for this trim level. Some vehicles with this trim may also feature seven speakers and a reverse sensing system for drivers who like additional assistance when backing up.

    Lounge Trim Level

The Lounge trim includes a 6-speed dual clutch transmission and chrome exterior mirrors. It also offers chrome door handles and mouldings as well as an optional dual-panel sunroof. Automatic temperature control and auto-dimming rearview mirror are standard features on this trim level, but the navigation system and moonroof are still upgrade options. Some models have seven speakers, and the reverse sensing system is a standard feature.

    Additional Fiat Sedan Features

One entirely unique feature of the 500L is an option to add an espresso machine to the car. As of 2014, it is the only vehicle on the market with this unique capability. The machine uses pods to brew espresso.

The Fiat is also available as a Beats edition starting with the 2014 model. Dr. Dre and Interscope Records collaborated with Fiat to produce this special package, which features two-tone seats and customised trim. The seats are available in grey and black with either a matte or gloss finish. Originally only available in Italy, the Beats edition is now available in additional markets, although it is difficult to find as a used model.

    The Unique Fiat Sedan

If buyers are in the market for efficient, practical and sporty vehicles, the Fiat sedan is a very good choice. Numerous options and trim levels are available on both new and used Fiats. Once buyers determine what they need, they can start their search for the perfect sedans.
