Volkswagen has introduced the Tiguan R and joins the local T SUV range in South Africa, which currently consists of the T-Cross, Taigo, T-Roc, Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace, and Touareg.
The Tiguan R is made distinctive from the normal one with a black rear diffuser, black wheel housing extensions, 20-inch Misano alloy wheels, and a panoramic sunroof. Satellite navigation, Wireless App-Connect and Voice Control, Active Info Display, Keyless Entry with safe lock, an electric tailgate, and luggage compartment all form part of the standard inventory. Customers can also choose from a total of ten exterior colours.
Just like the soon-to-be-launched Golf 8 R, the Tiguan uses the same turbocharged 2.0-litre engine with maximum outputs of 235kW and 400Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels and the road via a seven-speed DSG transmission that translates to a 5.1-second, 0-100km/h sprint and runs to a top speed of 250km/h.
Inside are Nappa leather seats emblazoned with the 'R' logo, a digital cockpit, a multi-function steering wheel (with shift paddles), and Carbon Grey decorative trim and aluminium front sill panel mouldings.

The model comes standard with a three-year or 120 000km warranty, a five-year or 100 000km maintenance plan and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. Service intervals are set for every 15 000km.
