Top 10 Products to Have in Your Vehicle at All Times

There is a plethora of lists all over the internet of things you should carry around in your car with you, but many of these lists are so long there is just no possible way you would be able to fit everything in. If you are anything like us, it is just not practical, or financially possible, to get all of these items.

To make things simpler, we’ve put together a list of the top 10 useful items to have in your vehicle at all times.

  1. A car jack: This is something you may take for granted, but will be invaluable if you find yourself stranded with a flat tyre.
  2. A first-aid kit: This doesn’t have to be extensive, but it will be super handy to have supplies to handle minor scrapes, burns, cuts, and the like.
  3. A flashlight: The last thing you want when stranded at night is to not be able to see what is going on around you.
  4. Jumper Cables: These will be useful if you leave your interior lights on for a longer period and come back to find your battery is completely flat!
  5. Duct Tape and Zip Ties: These two items together will work wonders for any sticky situations you need to fix up in a hurry in the interior somewhere or under the hood.
  6. Gloves: If you have to get dirty to take a look under the hood or beneath your vehicle, or if you need to change a tyre, a quality pair of gloves will come in handy to protect your skin, as well as prevent them from getting dirty.
  7. Owner’s Manual and Registration: This may seem obvious, but you would be surprised how many people leave these things out. The owner’s manual will include every single element of your car, so whether you think you know it inside and out, there may be a situation you have never come across where your manual will come in handy.
  8. Tyre Pressure Gauge: If your vehicle does not have a tyre pressure display, you may want to carry around your own tyre pressure gauge to check the pressure of all four tyres at least once a month.
  9. Emergency Triangle: These little guys come equipped with reflective tape so that if you are stopped with less daylight left than you would prefer, at least other drivers will be able to see you are there before it is too late.
  10. Multi-Tool: You may not be able to bring along an entire toolbox, but a small multi-tool should have the basics like a screwdriver, pliers, scissors, wire cutters, and a wrench.

Now that you’ve got the knowledge, it’s time to shop! Head to gumtree.co.za or your Gumtree app (click for Apple & Android) and don’t forget to use your location settings to find tools and accessories close to home.
