Seeing a badly parked car elicits feelings of anger and road rage in many of us. There is nothing worse than getting to the shops and finding a car parked across the last two parking spots. This shows insensitivity on the part of the driver, who could help others just by parking in the right manner.

Gumtree gives you the following tips to ensure you park efficiently, without creating an inconvenience for others:
- Do not park at awkward angles that can take up extra parking spaces. Be considerate of others.
- Always wait your turn when looking for a parking space. Indicate to call ‘dibs’ if you are the first in line but do not cut others off.
- While walking through a parking bay to your car, make your intentions clear with other cars. If you are planning to leave your bags in your car and head back in, let waiting cars know out of politeness.
- When parking, always stop in line with other cars around you, especially when you have a smaller car. If not, other cars may assume your spot is vacant as they will not be able to see your vehicle if it is pushed in.
- Avoid squeezing your car into spaces that are too small. For example, if you have an SUV, never park in a ‘compact only’ space, which may only be 7 feet wide as compared to the standard 9 feet.
- Always look out for pedestrian crosswalks even if you are in a hurry to park your car to avoid dangerous accidents.
