That is yourself sorted, but what about your four-wheeled pride and joy? As temperatures rise, the heat will also take a toll on your car in a variety of ways so it's best to be prepared.
Gumtree has put together a list of tips and precautions to make sure you and your car don't get too hot under the collar during the upcoming summer season:
Check fluids - Warmer temperatures can cause engine fluids to thin or even evaporate. Before it gets too warm, check your vehicle's coolant levels and avoid the mistake of using water instead of coolant, as most vehicles require coolant only.
Park in the shade - If you know the weather is going to be 30-degrees plus, be sure to either park under the carport, garage, or underneath a tree. Not only can intense heat mess with the electricals, but things like the (leather) seats, steering wheel, and door panels can burn your skin.
Service the air-conditioner - Other than ensuring your aircon is regassed to blow cold air, visit a workshop that can perform a full service of the unit, including replacing the oil or filters.
Inflate your tyres correctly - Underinflated tyres cause more friction and therefore produce more heat. In addition, you are at risk of a blowout with overinflated tyres as air expands due to the increase in temperature. The different temperatures between seasons can affect tyre pressure.
Wash it - When the sun is at its highest, it can get hot. Built-up debris, dirt, or bird fecal matter can become caked onto the body if the car has been standing or hasn't been washed in a while. It's best to clean the car before dirt starts accumulating.
Radiator airflow/blockage test - An engine can overheat if there is not proper flow throughout the system. It can be determined by checking the temperatures of various parts in the system if you have a blocked radiator or a thermostat problem.
