Haval South Africa is expanding their HEV product offering with the launch of the self-charging hybrid electric - the Jolion HEV.
The model comes in Luxury and Super Luxury variants and differentiated from the rest of the Jolion range by LED Premium Vision headlights and fog lights with blue accents, a diamond-designed front grille, a redesigned front bumper, silver roof rails, flared rear brake lights, a sporty rear diffuser and dual vent rear spoilers. Depending on the specification grade, there are 17 or 18-inch sports alloy wheels available.
Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre petrol engine that works in unison with an electric motor, with a total power output of 140kW and 375Nm. It is mated to a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and, depending on the driving conditions and driver input, EV, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid and Regeneration, can transfer between those configurations. Haval claims a fuel consumption figure of 5.0-litres/100km.

Inside is heated front seats, a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and a four-way mechanically adjustable front passenger seat. It is further bolstered with Smart keyless entry with push button start, a panoramic sunroof, a seven-inch colour instrument cluster and wireless charging are standard on both Luxury and Super Luxury models. Luxury models feature a soft-to-the-touch 10.25-inch Multimedia Touch Display. Super Luxury derivatives feature 12.3-inch Multimedia Touch Display and a Head-Up Display.
In the interests of safety, both derivative come with Electronic Stability System (ESP), Traction Control, ABS and EBD, dual front, side and curtain airbags, Anti-Roll System and Secondary Collision Mitigation, Uphill and Downhill Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Rear Parking Sensors. It does stop there.
A 360-degree panoramic camera, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist and Intelligent Turning Assist, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Smart Collision Avoidance, Rear Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking tops off the list.
