Description
3 x vintage Civelli rosary made with ivorine beads, designed by Italian sculptor Cesar Civelli in the late 1940s for the 1950 Holy Year.
The beads portray the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, with Latin inscriptions on the reverse side of each bead.
The center of the rosary often contains relic soil from the Catacombs of Rome.
The material is ivorine, a type of bone or plastic, not actual ivory.
These rosaries were sold as souvenirs in locations like Lourdes and Rome
