POSITION OVERVIEW: Kgololo Academy Lead Teachers play a fundamental role in crafting an intellectually stimulating learning environment for primary school scholars.
Outlined below are the qualifications and expertise for the position:
Teaching Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education in Intermediate Phase
All coursework completed
Commitment to work from 7:15-15:45 with two meeting held after working hours until 16:30 each week
Commitment to work additional hours in order to support the Kgololo Mission
Strong commitment to the community of Alexandra
Ability to work under intense pressure
Track record of resiliency in the face of obstacles
Oral and written fluency in English required
Commitment to creating weekly detailed lesson plans
Commitment to doing WHATEVER it takes to help kids succeed.
Ability to think quickly and creatively in order to solve challenges
Desire to work with scholars who may have behavioral challenges and or barriers to learning
Desire to work together with parents to support their scholars
Work with a team in a dual language literacy programme that promotes English and Zulu biliteracy and bilingualism
Assess individual student’s progress and learning needs; demonstrate a relentless focus on helping students achieve
Communicate students’ progress toward realising academic and character development goals with families on a weekly basis
Develops, weekly plans, and implements age appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care
Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents.
Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships and experience clear communication with teaching staff.
Plan periodical parent conferences to discuss children's developmental progress, needs and interests.
Ensures that the Teaching Associate is kept updated in all matters concerning the classroom and program.
Participate in internal and external professional development opportunities in order to remain abreast of best practices in education.
Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of one’s students
Ongoing Performance Development Training
