Armed Response

Security company in Durban, is seeking vigilant, physically fit, and professional Armed Response Officers (ARO) to join our reaction unit. Key Performance Areas (Duties & Responsibilities):

Rapid Response: Respond immediately to alarm activations, panic signals, and emergency distress calls from clients, ensuring adherence to stipulated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and response times .

• Visible Patrolling: Conduct high-visibility patrols in assigned areas (residential estates, industrial zones, and commercial properties) to deter criminal activity and identify vulnerabilities .
• Incident Management: Assess threat levels at crime scenes, take detailed notes, preserve evidence, and effect lawful arrests where necessary. Liaise directly with SAPS and control rooms to ensure seamless handovers .
• Armed Escorting (if required): Escort high-value cargo or personnel, proactively screening routes for potential threats and hijacking risks .
• Reporting & Administration: Complete detailed incident reports, maintain the Occurrence Book (OB) accurately, and conduct thorough vehicle and firearm handover procedures at shift end .
• Firearm Compliance: Carry and utilize company-issued firearms strictly according to PSIRA regulations and the Firearms Control Act, ensuring the safety of the public and clients at all times .
• Customer Liaison: Maintain a professional demeanour, reassure clients during emergencies, and address security concerns promptly.

Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable):
To comply with South African security regulations and industry standards, candidates must meet the following :

• Education: Minimum Grade 10 (NQF Level 4). Grade 12 / Matric is highly advantageous .
• PSIRA Registration: Valid PSIRA registration with a minimum Grade C. Grade B is strongly preferred for higher-level response duties .
• Firearm Competency: Valid SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate for Handgun for Business Purposes (Statement of Results from a PFTC accredited training provider is essential) .
• Drivers License: Valid Code 8 Drivers License with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) .
• Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of proven experience as an Armed Response Officer or in a law enforcement role .
• Criminal Record: Clear criminal record (background checks will be conducted) .

Preferred Competencies (Advantageous):

• Armed Response Certification from a reputable training provider .
• First Aid Level 1, 2, or 3 certification .
• Proficiency in English and isiZulu (advantageous for the Durban region).
