Reason for Reporting
Reporting to the Service Manager
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in overseeing the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of marine diesel engine & generator electrical systems and related electrical control systems, troubleshooting, inspections, overhauls & commissioning of electrical & control systems
Requirements:
· Excellent communication skills (at all levels) interpersonal skills with technical & commercial audiences
· Good computer skills
· Valid driving license
· Willingness to travel domestically & internationally
· Electrician Qualification
· 5 - 10 years’ experience in marine electrical sector
· Knowledge of relevant regulatory, quality standards & labour practices
· Ability to work under pressure & overtime to meet deadlines
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Enthusiastic attitude ability to take instruction
· Good problem-solving skills- ability to identify and resolve technical challenges
· Knowledge of common rail diesel engines (diagnostic’s) & marine electronic systems
· Knowledge of various marine battery management & electronic control systems would be beneficial
Duties to include but not limited to:
• Provide exceptional customer service & workmanship
• Establish & maintain good customer relationships
• Troubleshooting and repair - Diagnosing and resolving issues with main engines, auxiliary machinery, generators and associated electrical systems
• Maintenance and overhaul - managing routine maintenance, major overhauls, and repairs on diesel engines and related equipment electrical systems
• Reporting & maintaining accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections
• Communicate with Service manager daily
• Setup and testing of the systems in house as well as on-site at our various boatbuilders and customers
• Training installers on installation of our OEM electronic marine systems
• Fault finding and repairs of engines, generators & subsequent electrical systems
• The candidate will compile a weekly visit schedule and visit our various boat builders and customers on a regular basis and asses the installations as it occurs during production phases ensuring that all systems reflect the strict requirement our OEM principals demand
• Attending sea trials
• Daily administrative duties which include compiling of installation reports, submitting and monitoring warrantee claims as well as entering service data on the various OEM platforms we use.
• Any ad-hoc activities required to ensure good oversight & smooth running of the entire department
The candidate will initially be employed on a 3-month contract basis where the candidate could showcase his expertise, to a maximum of 6 months, after which the successful candidate can be made permanent
