We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Laboratory Medical Technologist to lead and support our laboratory operations.
This role is ideal for a professional with advanced technical expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for maintaining the highest diagnostic standards — aligned with the operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Operations
Perform, supervise, and validate a wide range of diagnostic tests in accordance with established protocols and quality standards (e.g., ISO 15189).
Ensure optimal functioning of laboratory instruments, including calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Provide mentorship, supervision, and technical support to laboratory technologists and technicians.
Oversee daily workflow to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timely release of results.
Quality Assurance & Compliance

Uphold and enforce laboratory quality management systems (QMS) in compliance with SANAS/ISO 15189 or equivalent standards.
Participate in internal and external quality control programs (EQAs, PTs).
Monitor adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), biosafety regulations, and ethical guidelines.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes through audit participation, corrective action, and performance review.
Research, Training & Innovation
Assist in the validation of new assays, instruments, and testing methodologies.
Support training, competency assessment, and professional development of junior staff.
Collaborate with clinical, nursing, and administrative teams to ensure efficient communication and diagnostic accuracy.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and scientific advancements in laboratory medicine.
Operational Excellence & Leadership

Coordinate workflow and resource allocation to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
Ensure adequate inventory and stock management of reagents, consumables, and supplies.
Provide input into laboratory budgeting, strategic planning, and performance management.
Uphold a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology or equivalent.
Registered and in good standing with a recognized professional body (e.g., HPCSA, or equivalent).
Minimum 5–8 years of laboratory experience, with at least 2 years at senior or supervisory level.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more key disciplines: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or Histopathology.
Proven knowledge of ISO 15189 accreditation requirements and QMS principles.
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
