Plumber - Independent Contractor

We are a Cape Town–based building and maintenance company providing reliable, high-quality repair, renovation and property maintenance services across the Western Cape. We support residential, commercial and sectional title properties with fast, professional and cost-effective solutions.

We are looking to partner with a qualified and experienced independent plumbing contractor to support ongoing maintenance and repair work across a portfolio of residential and commercial properties. This is not an employment position. The contractor will operate under their own business name, provide their own tools/transport, and invoice for services rendered as per South African independent contractor legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, maintenance and repair work on plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, valves, sanitary ware and geysers, across various sites.
• Identify and resolve issues such as leaks, burst pipes, blockages, pressure problems and drainage faults.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance as assigned, providing written reports where required.
• Respond to urgent call-outs and assist with minimising disruption to tenants and property operations.
• Work from technical drawings, plans and specifications to complete installations and repairs accurately.
• Liaise with other service providers or contractors when work overlaps with electrical, building or carpentry functions.
• Keep clear records of work completed, materials used and time spent, for invoicing and compliance.
• Ensure that all work aligns with relevant South African legislation, including OHS requirements, municipal bylaws and applicable SANS plumbing standards.

Contractor Requirements

• Qualified Plumber with a Trade Test / Red Seal or equivalent recognised certification.
• At least 3 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in property maintenance or facilities environments.
• Valid driver’s licence and dependable vehicle suitable for transporting tools and materials.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot effectively and manage own workflow.
• Strong communication skills when engaging with clients, tenants and other contractors.
• Professional approach, reliability, and consistent quality of workmanship.
• Basic computer or mobile-app literacy for job cards, invoicing or reporting (advantageous).
