Savory Origin Pte Ltd, having recently went through a rebranding exercise in 2023, was previously known as Lim Luan Seng Foods Industries Pte Ltd. Lim Luan Seng Foods Industries was established in 1976 with a humble beginning in Lorong Ah Soo selling fresh coconuts, coconut leaves & freshly grated coconuts.

Market Presence

With the growing popularity of spicy Nonya Otah back then, Lim Luan Seng ventured into Otah manufacturing and has grown to be probably the oldest and leading Halal Otah manufacturer since 1987 with the brand – 1st Grade Otah.

In Singapore, this dish is locally known as Otah - perfected by the Singaporean Nonya’s Peranakan cooking style with the clever use of chili and spices.

Though Otak-Otak may be developed some 70 years ago, Singapore’s Nonya Otah was made famous with the growth of hawker centre culture since the 1970s, which is an UNESCO listed intangible cultural heritage.
