Windows Stained Glass made in 1956

These beautiful Stained Glass Windows were commissioned in 1956 in Durban especially for my late mother for our Umhlanga Rocks home. They are still in beautiful undamaged condition. Size of each actual glass pane is 44cm x 53cm high. Size of windows set in solid Teak wood frame is 120cm wide x 71cm high. The colours red and pink are the most expensive/valuable as gold is used to make both these colours. The beautiful deep sky blue is made by adding cobalt oxide or cobalt carbonate. The more cobalt is added the deeper the blue. They also have lovely sparkling facets cut into them. All pieces of glass are held together with lead/caning as it is known. In 1986 Polish lady from Bryanston Organic Market who specialised in stained glass came to my Sunninghill home to make a matching light fitting. She told me that this particular deep blue was no longer obtainable from Europe making these windows now rare/expensive. After all these years, they need to go to a special home which will really enjoy their beautiful colours ensuring they will live for many more years to come. They have survived for so long.
