Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) - Start Date 1st April 2026

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Microbiologist to join our team. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or an early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and investigative microbiological testing and analysis
• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain laboratory media, reagents, and equipment
• Conduct microbial culturing, identification, and enumeration
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and quality control procedures
• Assist with method validation and continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Life Sciences.
• Practical laboratory training in microbiological techniques
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory safety standards
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Attributes:

• Recent graduate or 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards)
• Must currently reside in the Durban or immediate surrounds
• Must have own transport
