Vaginal Tightening

Vaginal tissue, such as skin, can experience laxity as women age or go through childbirth. Microcirculation and blood flow in vaginal and urethral tissues decrease with menopause, and the decline in estrogen negatively impacting vaginal hydration and bladder function. The current rationale for treating the vaginal tissue with photobiomodulation is to stimulate synthesis of collagen and elastin in the vaginal tissue and supporting urethrovaginal sphincter and urethra, as well as promoting vasodilation in the vaginal and urethral submucosa.

Birth Canal Rehabilitation

Childbirth is a transformative event in a woman’s life. The onset of motherhood presents a unique set of physical, emotional and psychological challenges. The post-partum phase can become even more challenging when the new mother experiences perineal or genital tract trauma as a result of childbirth. Gynecological pain imposes physical limitations on the new mother, making child-care, sitting, walking and other activities of daily living (ADLs) extremely difficult and painful. ?

Perineal tears as a result of childbirth trauma are common with spontaneous vaginal birth. Research has shown that as many as 85% of all women will experience some kind of perineal tearing during childbirth. Lacerations of the perineum are defined and graded according to the structures that have been torn or injured.

Photobiomodulation represents a safe alternative in the healing, rehabilitation and management of these conditions.

Complete Treatment of the Vulva

Photobiomodulation can target deeper pelvic tissues such as the pelvic floor muscles and the bladder. For these reasons, photobiomodulation is now being used in patients with pelvic pain conditions.

Eliminate Harmful Bacteria

Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) and Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) are common infections of the female genitourinary tract. It is considered the two most common genital infection in women.

From a 2019 study: given that the blue light-emitting diode (LED) is an electromagnetic radiation source with antimicrobial properties, the vulva and vagina were exposed to blue LED irradiation in a single session, divided into two applications. A reassessment was performed 21 days after the treatment. The light-emitting device had a visible spectrum, in the violet and blue ranges, and a maximum temperature increase of 7 °C. During the reassessment, the culture was found to be negative for fungus, and the signs and symptoms of the patient had disappeared.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

From a resent study: HISTOLOGICAL OUTCOMES IN THE TREATMENT OF VULVOVAGINAL ATROPHY USING HOTOBIOMODULATION (PBM) TECHNOLOGY

The use of PBM in treating postmenopausal women suffering from symptoms of VVA showed improvement in both objective and subjective symptoms. The subjective improvements correlated to the related histological changes, showing an improvement in vaginal atrophy.

Specifically, the histological samples three months post-treatment showed angiogenesis, increased vascularization in the lamina propria, neocollagenesis, increased thickness of the epithelium, and an increase the cellularity in the ECM, with no thermal damage effects.

Finally, it is interesting to emphasize that the histological changes were maintained at 12 weeks, which suggests that if these patients continued the treatments at home, they could further improve or maintain the clinical benefits beyond the initial treatment protocol.

Detoxing / Eliminating Odours

The smell of your vagina may vary during your menstrual cycle, pregnancy, or menopause. You may also experience stronger smells after sexual intercourse or exercise.

An intense odour, however, could be due to an infection that needs treatment. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common cause of such odours.
Reducing Vaginal Dryness

Several studies reported effectively treat vaginal symptoms associated with GSM, such as vaginal dryness.
