Description

Alcohol Refractometer Alcoholometer 0~80% ATC Handheld Alcohol Tester
This Alcohol refractometer is designed for the measurement of distilled beverages (ethanol with water) like whiskey, brandy, fruit brandy, slivovitz, vodka, gin, tequila, Chinese alcohol, etc.
It has a scale in the range of 0 - 80 % (VOL - alcohol volume percent).

With Built-in ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) from 10~30 degree Celsius.
Soft Rubber eyepiece for comfortable viewing
Equipped with scale measurement which provides direct reading
Adjustable manual focusing
Use ambient light only which means battery or power source is not required

Easy and very convenient to use. Place a few drops of the liquid on the optical part of the refractometer, cover the prism (the liquid will spread more easily over the prism), look through the eyepiece against the light (focus, if necessary) and you will be able to read the result value on the scale.
Measuring Range 0-80% v/v(VOL - alcohol volume percent).
Widely used for scientific research, food producing, alcohol retailer, etc.

Before you use a refractometer, it needs to be calibrated. Most refractometers are calibrated by using a sample of distilled water. Add a few drops of distilled water to the clear sample plate. Close the daylight plate and allow the water to spread across the sample plate. Make sure there are no bubbles. Refractometers are temperature sensitive, so allow the hot sample to cool and reach room temperature not exeeding 10 - 30 degrees Celsius.

Hold the refractometer up to natural light and take a reading. Most refractometers have a calibration knob or screw that will let you adjust the zero setting. What you want to do now is adjust the refractometer with the included screwdriver so it reads zero with distilled water in it. (A sample of pure water will have a specific gravity of approximately 0.998 at 20 degrees Celsius.) This may take a few tries.
Thereafter, you could also use another liquid with known specific gravity (weight per liter) typically these sell as refractometer calibration liquid (not included)
