PRE-SCHOOL MODULAR PLAY EQUIPMENT

Based on the designs of a prominent play equipment manufactured in New Zealand, this modular play system is suitable for early childhood ( 3-6 yrs ) centres. The play–cubes and clip-on units can be moved around and easily interchanged, encouraging safe, creative learning and play.

The play-cubes were manufactured from high quality plywood. Once assembled the cubes were sealed with multiple coats high grade PVA, followed by a thick coating of non toxic bitumin rubber liquid membrane. Finally, 2-3 coats of pure acrylic charcoal PVA were applied. In accordance with required safety specifications, sturdy 70cm high steel tubing barriers are fitted on each corner of the 90cm high cubes. All the metal components have been galvanised and coated with Velvaglo exterior enamel paint.

The slides are made of colour impregnated fibre glass.

The equipment is designed for use on a level surface - either a rubberised mat, thick artificial grass, or a stable bed of small wood chips. Because children play on the equipment during the day, it's best to set it up in a shady place, or under some sort of roofing or shade cloth. If space permits it's

best to install it in a hall or large indoor space. Due to the interchangeable nature of the equipment, various configurations can be erected to suit the available space.

The set of play equipment includes the following units:

• One small wooden cube – 60cm high and 90cm wide and long

• One large slide

• One sloping bridge

• One clatter bridge

• One cargo climbing net

• One long staggered climbing ladder

• One short climbing ladder

• One swing bar

• One parallel bar set

• One rock-climbing wall

• One short climbing board

• One two step staircase
