Most likely from Africa (Southern side) late 20th century, the semi-lightweight hard wood primitive carving is exceptionally executed, incredibly detailed throughout, naturalistic style, modelled as a possible "country circus" horse with both front and rear feet on the ground. The head and legs of the horse were hand sculptured, but finished off with a "peg" to fit inside the body of the horse. Hand painted throughout; the art statue features a off-white-washed like natural finish with beautifully aged neck hair that adds to the sophisticated antique character, soft country or circus charm, rustic warmth feeling with rich historical depth!
