South African World War Two helmet
Good condition with additions and modifications
Painted brown
SA World War Two helmets had 3 holes drilled at the back of the helmet for purposes of attaching sun shading for neck and shoulders
This helmet has had three brass pins inserted into the 3 holes
In addition, a South African Service Corp SAI brass badge (1926 to 1942) has been attached to the rear of the helmet
The motto on this brass badge ""honi soit qui mal y pense"" is French for ""evil to him who evil thinks"" and is the motto of the Order of the Garter, an ancient order of knights
