Good to very good condition and well worn and used

Helmet appears to have been used in North African theatre of war - sandy coloured paint with evidence of a black rat's tail painted onto helmet - soldiers in desert war were referred to as "desert rats".......

Three small holes drilled at the back of the helmet points to a South African helmet, as the holes were used to attach neck and shoulder protection from African desert sun

Inside helmet padding made of thick strong felt

Brass screw attaches inside headgear to shell of the helmet

Worn khaki chin strap
