Pipes - Hand Carved Xhosa Smoking Pipes
Hand-Carved Xhosa Smoking Pipe (Inqawe) carved from one piece of 'mnyamanzi' wood (Acacia caffra) aka 'hook thorn tree' which is commonly found in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. This is a dying craft with only a few carvers still practicing this traditional craft. Xhosa men and women carry pipes as part of their traditional attire when attending traditional functions etc. Sizes: Length +/- 130mm Bowl +/- 50mm x 25mm As these pipes are hand-carved the sizes are approximate and may vary slightly.
