Vintage opera glasses, also known as theatre binoculars.
Late 1800s or early 1900s. Opera
glasses, such as these, were commonly used in theatres or operas to provide a
clearer, more detailed view of the performance.
They are made of metal with a center focus wheel
for adjustment.
Made by the renowned optical firm
Dixey. The company, Dixey, was a respected manufacturer of optical wares,
previously serving as opticians to royalty like King George III and Queen
Victoria.
The text visible in the case indicates the address
