Overview

We are seeking skilled and experienced Turners to join our engineering team in the Meyerton area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating, setting, and maintaining manual turning machines to produce high-quality precision components according to technical drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual and/or lathes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job cards.
• Select correct tools, cutting speeds, and feeds for efficient machining.
• Manufacture components to precise tolerances and quality standards.
• Perform quality checks using measuring instruments (micrometres, vernier callipers, gauges).
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments.
• Ensure all work is completed within required timeframes.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report faults.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean work area.
• Collaborate with supervisors and other team members to resolve technical issues. Must be a team player.
• Must be hardworking and be able to work overtime from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• If Applicable Trade Test Certificate: Turner / Fitter & Turner etc.
• 3+ years experience as a Turner (manual).
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling.
• Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Passion and attendance will fall into your advantage.

Preferred Skills (Advantageous)

• Experience in a heavy engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of safety and quality systems (ISO, SHEQ).

Working Conditions

• Workshop/Factory environment.
• Overtime and shift work may be required depending on production needs.
