Design and Quality Freelancer
A fashion house in Durban CBD specializing in fashion, soft furnishings, corporate wear and school wear, seeks the services of a vibrant and creative fashion designer with extensive experience in quality management processes within a mass production environment.
Lead a team that receives design briefs from clients
Lead the development of a proposal to the client
Contribute to the fabric sourcing process
Brief pattern maker on patterns required and guide the pattern making process
Review patterns and sign of for sampling. Review and sign off samples and/or prototypes against brief, designs and patterns
Work with factory supervisor in planning the optimum operational plan for each project in line with the business overall work plan
Develop processes and templates for a quality management system
Perform end to end quality checks from the laying process, during and after cutting, sorting process, garment construction, pressing and preparation for dispatch
Support the seasonal trend research processes
Contribute to monthly and quarterly publications by the marketing department
Support the development of staff including any internships and learneships undertake
Recommend best practice fabrics, working methods, machinery trends etc.
Fashion design qualification (degree or diploma)
More than 10 years working experience in a fashion environment.
Atleast 5 years working experience in a mass production environment in a quality management role
Working with well know fashion brands or the CMT thereof will be an added advantage
Remuneration rate is negotiable
Required to work 3 days a week including Fridays. The factory closes at 13:30pm on Fridays.
