(CAT) 3208 V8 Diesel Engine.
It’s an iconic "mid-range" engine easily recognizable by its compact V8 configuration and that signature Caterpillar yellow paint. These were widely used from the 1970s through the 1990s in everything from delivery trucks and school buses to marine vessels and industrial equipment.
Key Identifying Features:
V8 Configuration: You can clearly see the two banks of cylinders at a 90-degree angle.
Fuel Injection System: The "spider" of steel fuel lines running from the central injection pump to each individual cylinder is a classic 3208 trait.
External Components: Note the top-mounted air intake and the dual-pulley system on the front (crankshaft), which would typically drive the alternator, water pump, or cooling fan.
Valvetrain Covers: The smooth, long valve covers are characteristic of the later, naturally aspirated or turbocharged 3208 models.
