Logistics Controller – Clearing & Forwarding

About the Role

An established trading and logistics business is seeking a technically strong Logistics Controller with a core focus on customs clearing.

This is not a freight forwarding or documentation coordination role. The successful candidate will execute the full clearing function in-house and take ownership of import processes from a customs and compliance perspective.

The role requires a hands-on clearing specialist who works directly on ACS, frames Bills of Entry, manages deferment accounts, and ensures full regulatory compliance across multiple South African ports.

Key Responsibilities

• Frame, submit, and amend Import and Export Bills of Entry in ACS.

• Execute customs submissions directly with SARS across multiple ports.

• Manage tariff classification and interpret customs legal texts.

• Adjust entries post-discharge and resolve customs queries or stops.

• Monitor Customs NATIS system and ensure timely release notifications.

• Manage deferment accounts and ensure payments are processed before due dates.

• Prepare and process supplier commercial invoices in FUSION.

• Coordinate with regulatory bodies including SARS, Agriculture, Port Health, and SABS.

• Apply for and renew relevant import permits and ensure ongoing compliance.

• Support month-end financial processes including AR and AP invoicing.

• Liaise with internal trading, logistics, and finance teams to ensure accurate duty and freight calculations.
