Large sardines or harders which are caught are salted and dried out, a very popular dish on the West Coast. Velddrif (field crossing) has become a very popular destination for tourists. Bokkom Lane is a very well known street along the river with a variety of small diners and pelicans standing around and flamingoâ??s in the water. On the opposite side of the bridge, there are various fresh fish suppliers including more restaurants and it leads to a walk along the boats which are moored after a long shift of fishing.
