About the Reserve: Grietjie is a Big 5 game reserve located within the Balule region of the greater Kruger National Park, approximately 20km from Phalaborwa on the R40. The total area of Grietjie is approximately 2800 ha. Balule is a member of the Associated Private Nature Reserves, which includes Balule, Klaserie, Timbavati and is linked to the Kruger National Park. There are no fences between the reserves, allowing game, including the Big 5 to roam free and allowing owners to view the game from their patios.
Grietjie recently received Protected Areas Status. Owners can acquire a 1 ha fenced off area around their houses and pets are allowed. There is good security, and the reserve is well-managed.
