Situated 25km on the gravel road from Marydale to Boegoeberg you will find this rare piece of land. Not everyday a farm with river frontage comes into market. The Orange river border this farm for 11km to create a spectacular setting where peace and agriculture meet.
The property consists of three title deeds with total size of 5765ha. Of this, 5733ha is used for livestock farming and 31.6ha for irrigation with 18ha water listing.
PART 1: Fauna and flora are typical of this type of topography and natural vegetation. The veldt is well protected by excellent management and conservation practices, as well as effective grazing management. Vegetation consist of mix grasses like Silk grass, Red grass, Couch grass, Finger grass, Long and short Bushman grass ,Haasgras and Lehmans's love grass as well as different types of bushes like Wolwedoring (Karoo Honey-thorn ), Kriedoring, Brosdoring (Brittle Thorn) , Driedoring (Three-Thorn), Swart haakbos ( Black Thorn) , Witgat trees, some Kameeldoring trees (Camelthorn), Wag-'n -bietjie as well as succulents like Ghaap (Bushman's hat). Soils type is mostly harder areas with rocky hills. The area has a Large Livestock unit of 1:32 with an average rainfall of 170mm/year. This type of veldt is ideal for sheep, cattle and game farming. This area is well known for hazzle free and very healthy sheep farming conditions.
Well-planned and equally well-developed camps make management easy. The entire farm is sub-divided into 35 manageable camps all with water drinking points. Water is supplied by 5 windmills and 7 solar pumps. This water is then stored in 7 x JOJO tanks (5000L & 10 000L) and 6 x cement dams. (All in good condition).
Fencing is in good condition with border fencing Jackal proofed and electrified (1.4m) and stock proof fencing of 900cm. This works perfectly for effective predator control. Water is pump from the river (10 000 cubic/per ha/year) and then filtered to be used on the Pecan nut trees currently planted on the area. This planted area has 2300 trees with spacing of 12m x 8m. The trees' age ranges between 1 and 3 years and are Wichita, Choctaw and Navaho cultivars and are all under drip irrigation. The owner is planning on planting lucern in between the trees in the future.
On the premises are 2 employer housing and an undercover storing facility. The whole area is electrified with 3m fencing. This is done for Kudu control mainly.
