MOLTENO: Sustainable livestock farm

This 2850 hectare gem is situated in the high rainfall area of the Molteno district in the Eastern Cape.

The veldt is in pristine condition and consists of a mixture of mountain veld, randt veld, apron veld, and flat plains. Five of the inner camps are between 100 and 200 hectares in size, while 42 are smaller than 100 ha. There is 1 good quality water point, on average, in each camp supplied either by fountain, or by trough. There are 5 drinking water dams, and 3 windmills across the farm.

The entire boundary fencing and internal fencing is stock proof, and in good repair. The division of the farm currently leaves 45 hectares dry, divided into 16 camps, with areas of irrigation land being hectares (permaset irrigation), divided into 2 camps. Lucerne is cultivated on the land of these 2 camps. Water for irrigation comes from a water dam, of which the pump is Eskom-powered.

The farm is currently utilised as a cattle farm see below the counts of cattle available for inclusion in the sale. Apart from the cattle, mountain reed buck, fallow deer, kudu, duiker, and steenbuck also roam the area freely.

The farm has two homesteads. The main house is situated between the mountains, with a beautiful view over the property and surrounding landscape. This dwelling has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a lounge, TV room, bar and braai area, kitchen, scullery, laundry, and 4 garages.

There are 6 kraals across the property, with 1 currently suitable for cattle. Outbuildings include a stone shed in need of attention, a Lucerne shed and a shearing shed There are 3 cottages, in good condition, and with running water. There are currently labourers living on the property (not longer than 10 years), but they do not have grazing rights.
