There is a feedlot and associated buildings. There is a kraal indicated where the two laborerâ??s stay, which is still a kraal today (traditional houses). There is a high-power line cutting through the northwestern corner of the farm. There are many fountains and high points. There are several wetland areas in the valley along the Kliprivier and on the mountain sides and tops where there are fountains in the game camp.The habitat represents Rocky Mountains, hills, ridges and plains of quartzite, conglomerates, shale, sandstone and overlying granites. The quartzite and conglomerates are indicated by the reddish and brown soil. The dominant soil type is sandy and sandy loam and is expected to vary in depth from moderately deep too deep in the valley floor, and shallower on the mountain tops. The colour differs from yellow-brown in the higher areas to dark red to reddish brown in the lower lying areas. The soil represents a good growing medium as is clear from the good grass cover and open savannah type veld in the mountainous areas. The grass and tree species that occur here are indicative of the fertile soil as well.There are many marshy and wetland areas that are well utilised by the livestock and game, and which allow the natural grazing to recover well after winter. The grass species occurring in these areas stay green well into winter and turns green first in spring. It is also a grass that prevents erosion and soil damage in wet areas as it covers the soil layer and prevents high runoff speeds.There are two production lines on the farms. There are the livestock and planted grazing and the Game farm. The 80 hectaresâ?? arable fields were planted with maize for the first time in the just completed season. Before it was planted with maize, it was planted grazing. The maize was harvested at a very good 4 tonnes per hectare. This is a good indication of the soil health and that the fertilisers applied on the planted grazing are sufficiently putting nutrients back into the soil that is taken off with cutting and grazing.The second production line is the game camp. Species that are kept are species that are adapted to Highveld and Bushveld conditions as both vegetation types are available for use. Game is hunted during the hunting season for meat and for trophies. The game camp has a few hides for bow hunting. There is a feed spot where there is a tick control dip pole. The natural grazing is kept short and new growth is ensured by cutting and by having the cattle graze it for a few weeks. This ensures an open savannah field and decrease the risk for uncontrolled fires.
