The frequency of a burner service depends on factors such as the type of fuel in use, type of operations and the surrounding conditions.

Heavy oil burners – service and re-commissioning at 3-month intervals recommended
Light Oil burners – service and re-commissioning at 4-month intervals recommended
Gas Burners – service and re-commissioning at 6-months intervals recommended

Services include:

• Overall burner condition inspection
• Nozzle replacement as standard
• Diffuser disc clean
• Listing any possible parts wear and planning for replacement
• Cleaning air FD fan
• Cleaning burner casing
• Cleaning or replacing fuel filters
• HT Leads & Electrodes replacement
• Photocell or UV Scanner clean or replacement
• Fuel pressure checks

Annual and 3-yearly service and statutory inspections are mandatory as stated in SANS 347. Accredited AIA inspectors, all in accordance with OHASA as per SANS 347, inspect and sign off the equipment for operation.
Correct boiler installation, commissioning, operation, inspection & storage is vital for the safe, reliable and efficient use of pressure vessels. In most cases, the boiler is the heart of the plant and production process, and therefore has to be cared for to avoid expensive repairs or even replacement.

Hot water boilers are subject to SANS 347 if they fall within the category requiring annual AIA inspection and certification. Hot water boilers must be maintained in a similar way as that of steam boilers.
