Good day

My name is Sandy, a very passionate and focused carer from Zimbabwe who was extensively trained with ST JOHNS AMBULANCES as a Home based Carer as further trained with CHILTON COLLEGE as an Elderly care giver. I have certificates in Home based Care including Advanced First Aid and CPR.

After graduation, I did my voluntary practice at Edith Duly Nursing Home were my skills as a carer were further rejuvenated. I worked on various shifts and nursed patients with various chronic illnesses that included

Alzheimer's patients

Patients with dementia

Cancer patients in various stages

Patients with lupas

Patients with severe hypertension and diabetic

Frail and bed ridden patients

Post operated patients who needed delicate care etc

I performed so many duties during my shift which included, bed changing, performing full wash, use of bedpan and changing incontinence pads, assisting able patients to bathroom, feeding patients, checking vitals like blood pressure, sugar, pulse and temperatures, sores management and dressing of wounds, providing companionship and assisting nurses to give out medication on time etc

I was then employed at Phonix Care Home in Johannesburg from January 2016 to May 2020 as a resident care giver. I worked shifts again took care of various patients who included dementia patients, frail and bed ridden patients, patients with physical disabilities , cancer patients, etc.

I performed various duties, from bathing, cleaning and sanitizing rooms, changing nappies and assisting other patients to the bathrooms for shower, feeding patients, assisting to dispense medication and checking vitals. I was then employed from at Live Well Care Home July 2020 to November 2023 when the COVID started here in South Africa. I worked at the resident Home Care facility as a carer giver and been nursing patients with various illnesses which included frail and bedridden patients, patients with chronic life conditions, post op patients and those with various cancer stages.

I performed bed changing each morning, full wash on patients, all grooming needs, feeding patients, checking vitals and giving medications on time, providing companionship on patients, helping with exercises etc
