Depot Manager-AbellioAs part of the Abellio Group, West Midlands Trains delivers around 1,300 train journeys a day, for more than 60 million passengers a year, across our two brands West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway.We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable train service, by investing in our fleet of trains, stations and employees. As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit a Depot Manager Outstations, on a 6 months fixed term basis, working predominantlynights based in Worcester.What does the role involve? Deliver outstanding leadership to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all colleagues, visitors and contractors, through excellent leadership, communication, processes and proceduresLead and drive a safety culture and behavioural change, seeking to improve staff safety and engagementEnsure Safe systems of Work are in place and followed for all aspects of work within the outstationsEnsure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and investigated thoroughly, ensuring lessons learned are communicated across the Fleet department through the appropriate forumsEnsure compliance to all Heath & Safety and Environmental standards by working closely with the Safety teamEnsure all staff are trained and competent before being instructed to work, and ensure that all staff receive regular and appropriate trainingIdentify and develop those with potential within the team(s) and look to develop them. Ensure the team are empoweredLead the team(s) to deliver all targets set against the Fleet strategyChampion continuous improvement activities to improve quality and efficiencies relating to train maintenance, depot operations and presentation activities. Ensure the sharing of best practiceEnsure control of all costs are within budget and all aspects of revenue are explored and metControl all staff costs, ensuring Rest Day Working and Overtime are within budgetUndertake any Planned General Inspections as requiredThe undertaking of other activities as directed by the Head of Fleet Production to support the delivery of West Midlands Trains objectivesWhat skills and experience do I need to do the role? Substantial experience of leading a team, demonstrating strong and effective people managementDemonstrable knowledge and use of Health, Safety & Environmental legislation to ensure safe systems of workingExperience of managing operational budgets and targetsMust be able to work on own initiative in a pressurised environment to tight deadlinesGood analytical skillsExcellent communicational skills, both written and non-writtenGood IT skills and demonstrable communication skillsA leadership qualification is desirable but not essential for the role, such as ILM level 5 or aboveWhat are the salary and benefits? Salary is Up to £65,000 depending on experienceFinal salary pension – one of the best pension schemes availableFree travel on all our trains and those of other train companies within our parent group company for you,
