Pretoria1. General Management of the WARC2. Training, supervision and monitoring of animal care volunteers3. Examination and assessment of injured wildlife, the recommendation of medical care and therapy to assist with the recovery to the point at which they can be released.4. Communication with external service providers such as Veterinary Services etc5. Depending on the geographic location, the Centre Manager may work with many species inclusive of all mammals, birds and reptiles6. Additional duties include keeping detailed records on each animal, supervising volunteers or interns, conducting fundraising campaigns, answering phone calls from people who have found wildlife in distress, and providing educational sessions to volunteers.7. Salary is Negotiable and dependant on experience.Job Requirements: • Must have volunteered as animal caretaker on a full time / part time basis. Minimum experience 4 years.• Must have assisted in the training of new animal care volunteers and interns as well as overseeing work and delegating their daily tasks.• Must have provided animal care, cleaning and maintaining of enclosures, monitoring and rehabilition evaluation for circa 100 animals daily.• Performed a wide array of animal care tasks while ensuring superior service relations and animal welfare.• Have experience in work related to the trapping, handling and transportation of wild animals.• Performed collection and release of different species of mammals and birds.• Assisting with procedures to rehabilitate and care for wild animals for their release back into their natural environment.• Wildlife rehabilitator experience, namely, a good working knowledge of wound management, fluid administration, the nutritional needs of various species, and humane restraint and capture techniques.• The creation a safe environment for all animals.• Industry related qualification with a specific bias towards wild animal rehabilitation and care• Code 8 drivers license• Minimum of 4 years experience with traceable references• Own transport (preferable)
