Description

Our client is looking for a Cost Management Accountant to join their team.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system.
Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses to enhance efficiencies.
Report on breakeven points by products, categories and cost centres.
Report on margins (product and division).
Report on periodic manufacture and procurement variances and their causes.
Using data accumulation systems to development models to further analyse procurement forecasting and spending.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts
Report and analyse product returns and waste.
Update standard costs in the bill of materials
Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies or variances
Develop database for such variances to eliminate manufacturing inefficiencies or procurement related factors contributing to such variances
Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
Revise the reserve for obsolete inventory as needed
Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
Work with the materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory

Experience manipulating large databases would be advantageous
Ability to effectively communicate with non-finance staff, including those in the warehouse and factory

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders

Qualifications
BCom- Cost accounting, BSc degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification (DCA).
3 years of accounting/finance experience specific to job costing or process costing in a FMCG environment
Computer literacy, proficient in Advance levels of Excel (including financial modelling, valuations and data visualisations), Pivot tables, Power Query, Power Bi
Experience in Sage Evolution would be advantageous
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS
