Our client, a well-established company based in the Overberg area, has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Finance Manager to join their young finance team.

Our client is an internationally established and vertically integrated group of entities involved in plant propagation, farming and marketing of primarily berries.

This new role is for a Senior Finance Manager to support the group and Head of Finance in particular with the day-to-day operational and commercial finance elements of the group.

It will involve taking over many of the Head of Finance’s responsibilities, assisting workload reduction of the existing finance team, defining, and implementing improvements in the efficacy of existing finance processes and working closely with the finance teams elsewhere in the world.

Accordingly, a technically strong and driven individual with a high urgency index, who takes their work very personally and wants to leave their mark, is required to take on this challenging role.

The role is based in Hermanus.

The Senior Finance Manager must be willing to travel between farms on an ad hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Key performance areas:
Overseeing the full finance function as regards delivery of income statements, balance sheets and cash-flow statements for the group of entities.
Supporting the Finance Manager by overseeing the full month-end procedures function and accurately, timely closure.
Manage cash flow from various sources (local and international).
Critically evaluate existing processes and procedures with a view of proposing and implementing improvements to drive efficiency, accuracy, and cost reduction.
Drive and maintain efficient communication between finance and other business units.
Manage, support, and inspire an accounts team of 5 direct reports and 2 indirect reports to ensure the key outcomes are met.
Continuous development of team members as well as driving financial awareness and support to other business units.
Implementation and transition of Navision in conjunction with the UK central services office in restructured group companies, together with defining and implementing relevant workstreams to drive efficient use by all stakeholders.
Other ad-hoc and related tasks as and when necessary.
Agriculture / horticultural exposure.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualified CA (SA) or CIMA.
